Rukatće, stovne i kondiri

May 11, 2016Leave a comment

The pottery in Pirot was thriving in the period between 1877 and the First World War. The Pirot potters used to leave town in search of profit, and there was no town in Serbia, and even in certain parts of Croatia where one could not come across the Pirot pottery. Nowadays there are very few potters and most of them have no successors.

The film “Rukatka jars, stovna pitchers and kondir ewers” is the story of four Pirot master potters who reminisce about the days when they used to learn the craft. They explain how the pottery is made and what is special about the pottery they produce. They also share their opinion on whether this craft that made Pirot famous can survive in the near future.

Format: DV, 16:9  Duration: 27 min
